LIMINALcinema is one of the projects jointly organized by Nomad Arts and Rice-Free Cooking Art Centre.
Nomad Arts(Foshan) was founded in 2023. It operates nomadically across urban morphologies, metropolitan cultures, public spaces, aesthetic fields, and everyday life.
Through practices including exhibition and program curation, art presentation and collection, cross-media art and design, the development of digital art archives, image production and dissemination, research initiatives, and public education, we seek—through a generative, agentive, and affirmative creative stance—to forge new linkages within existing cultural formations. In the ongoing production of content and exploratory action, we articulate the conceptual images of what is yet to come.
Rice-Free Cooking Art Centre is a non-profit art institution under Nomad Arts (Foshan). It officially opened to the public in 2024.
The Centre emphasizes an experimental working logic and an open operational model. Adopting the hollow, anticipatory state implied by the phrase “cooking rice porridge without rice—waiting for the rice to enter the pot,” it absorbs and processes the “events” generated by temporary, contingent, or improvised gatherings. Drawing on reflexivity as its philosophy of action, it undertakes processes of self-mobilization, self-performance, and self-transformation.
